PEI Career Development Services is offering a new career planning program for employed individuals who may be considering a career change.

...then the CDS Career Transition Program may be for you.

This fee-for-service program will assist individuals in identifying career goals, establishing priorities, discovering career options and identifying the required steps to achieve those goals. All CDS Career Counsellors possess a university masters degree and are certified in their respective fields.

Client services include:

1. Private, confidential one-on-one career counselling from a qualified and experienced Career Counsellor.
2. Provision of practical tools to discover your hidden potential as well as a framework for career development and career decision-making.
3. Professional guidance to explore key questions that engage your sense of purpose.
4. Exploring and understanding the pros and cons of career change and the affects it has on your personal life.
5. Reliable career assessments that assess your interests, functional skills, values and personal suitability in relation to career goals.
6. A comprehensive report and interpretive discussion of your career assessment results with a recommended action plan for achieving your goals.

The CDS Career Transition Program consists of three components:

Component 1: Introduction and Needs Assessment

Clients will meet with a Career Counsellor for a free half-hour information session. During this session your individual needs will be assessed and you will be provided with a general overview of the CDS Career Transition Program including a description of the available career assessment tools. A customized individual action plan will also be outlined at this time.

Component 2: Career Assessments

The Career Assessment Component of the CDS Career Transition Program consists of five inventories designed to provide an understanding of your aptitudes, career interests, work-related personality, key values and their career relevance. The assessments used include:

-Self-Directed Search®
-Strong Interest Inventory®
-SkillScan®
-Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®
-Career Values Scale®

Component 3: Individualized Report and Recommendations

You will receive a comprehensive report summarizing key points from the career assessment interpretative sessions, as well as recommendations required to achieve your career goals.

The decision as to the length of time and type of services required will be determined by both the Counsellor and client throughout the needs assessment session and can be adjusted at any time.
